Last Sunday we had the opportunity to spend time together helping others. We painted bowls as part of our community's Empty Bowls campaign. Empty Bowls is a grassroots program where the community works together to fight hunger. Some people paint ceramic bowls. Others make pots of soup & desserts. Others buy tickets to attend the Empty Bowls event. At the event, ticket holders are treated to soup & dessert and take home one of those painted ceramic bowls. All the proceeds go to places like Loaves & Fishes, Manna Cafe & Urban Ministries that help the hungry in our community.

Christina & Alaina
Alaina is a young adult busy earning her degree in psychology at APSU while spending her free time working as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader for the teens at Christ Lutheran Church. She feels she can relate Christ Lutheran's teens through her own experiences and wants to be there for them as they begin their journey to adulthood. And, the teens agree! Our youth ministry would be the same without her! Mrs Christina is Christ Lutheran's Director of Youth & Family Ministry. She has a degree in Social Work with specializations in both community development and youth development and is a mom of a teen, pre-teen and a big kid. Her favorite thing about working with youth is seeing them build confidence and grow in faith through new experiences. She often wonders how she got so lucky as to have such a super fun job as this.
